Anonymous Visibility

Anonymous Visibility

No. of Dancers: 4, Original Score by John Yannelli.

β€œIt is not I who sees, not he who sees, because an anonymous visibility inhabits both of us.”
- Maurice Merleau-Ponty, The Visible and the Invisible, 1968.

Anonymous Visibility creates a space where mind and body are detached and released into absurd reality. While enacting a rigorous interplay of dynamic movements, dancers use a directed gaze to generate and sustain connections between each other as well as audience members. This engrossing work shifts between states of vivacity, competition, detachment, and absurdism, while vibrant costumes, cool lighting, and a driving original score bring energy and a sleek intensity to the dance.
