Site and Seen

No. of dancers: 4

Site and Seen, created as a site-specific work for the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center, brings the galleries into motion by juxtaposing live performance with the museum’s permanent collection. Within the piece, dancers actively respond to the surrounding artwork via contemplative, layered movement explorations. The work seeks to cultivate and demonstrate the dynamic relationships that exist between the corporeal body and visual objects in the world.

With this goal in mind, audience members are encouraged to circulate the space freely and view the performance from a multitude of perspectives. Following the performance, active viewers of this work may find a renewed sense of physical awareness related to their art-viewing experience.

This program was association with the Frances Lehman Loeb Focus Gallery exhibition, Movement Captured: Dance in Art from the Permanent Collection, on view September 12 - December 20, 2019.
